AN evening of Celtic music will be held at Crediton Arts Centre on Saturday, May 6.

“Xogara” are a folk quartet from Oxford who bring everything you might expect of an Anglo-Cymraeg-Galego four-piece.

These acoustic multi-instrumentalists are said to play with verve and gusto to complement the subtlety to be found in their arrangements of traditional and contemporary music from across the British Isles and beyond.

The band comprises Mano Panforreteiro (whistle, gaita, percussion, backing vocals); local girl Jo Hamilton (flute, soprano sax, backing vocals), John Ruddock (guitar, bouzouki, vocals) and Siriol Davies (oboe, vocals).

During the first half of the evening three local storytellers will introduce Ivan, Welsh goats and Donald O’Leary who feature in Celtic tales from Cornwall, Wales and Ireland.

Tickets for this rich and diverse evening can be obtained from the Crediton Arts Centre, the Community Bookshop and Sandford Community Stores.
