LOCAL couple, Margaret and Reg Nott have celebrated their Diamond Wedding.
Margaret and Reg met at the wedding of Reg's brother and Margaret's sister, where Reg was best man and Margaret was a bridesmaid.
They were married at Morchard Bishop Church in 1949 and honeymooned in Ilfracombe, North Devon.
Reg, who grew up at Meshaw Barton, Meshaw, near South Molton became a partner on the farm with his parents and brother and he and Margaret set up home there for seven years.
Margaret also had a farming background, coming from Mears Farm, Morchard Bishop.
In 1953 they bought a small holding named Adworthy Farm in East Worlington parish, where they farmed for 37 years until they reached retirement age.
When the farm was sold they moved to Crediton where they made many new friends, but still have strong contacts with friends from Meshaw and Worlington, where they were very active within the community.
They have enjoyed being members of the Methodist church for a number of years.
The couple have three children, one son and two daughters, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Margaret and Reg worked hard at farming and enjoyed being able to work together and explained: "This could be our recipe for 60 wonderful years – be there for each other at all times."
The proud couple celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary with a family party at the London Inn at Morchard Bishop.
