THE fifth Christmas Tree Festival entitled “A Step into Christmas” which was held at Sandford Congregational Church on December 14, 15 and 16 was a huge success again this year.

The church was filled with 32 beautifully decorated Christmas trees and festive floral displays for the event.

All the trees were decorated by local organisations, clubs, businesses and children from Sandford School and playgroup.

On the Thursday afternoon children from Sandford School Reception Years One and Two sang some festive songs.

A well-attended carol service on Sunday, December 17 brought the festival to a close. It was led by Pamela Tilney-Ellis, who said that she was so sorry that organiser Marion Nosworthy was unable to be there, due to illness.

Readings were given by Margaret Tucker, Marilyn Winter, Margaret Phillips and Fiona Wise. Julie Rowe was the organist and afterwards everyone enjoyed tea and cakes.
