FIREFIGHTERS were called to deal with a car fire outside Evans Newsagents in Crediton High Street at about 3pm today.

On arrival the crew used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel to put out the fire.

The fire, which firefighters said started accidentally caused severe damage to the red four-door VW Golf GTI.

Firefighters put out the fire swiftly and no-one was injured.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and rescue confirmed that the fire was accidental.
