A FIRE crew from Crediton put out a car fire on the A3072 near Shobrooke during the morning of Saturday, October 28.

The car, a red Vauxhall Corsa, was southbound on Park Hill and stopped before the turn off for Shobrooke Park after it became involved in fire.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the fire at 11.41am and, on arrival, found the car was well-alight.

The fire crew used a compressed air foam jet and two sets of breathing apparatus to put out the fire which appears to have started in the engine.

The fire crew used a Tirfor winch to remove the vehicle from the public highway but traffic is warned that the burned out remains of the vehicle is still on the verge.
