DURING the morning of Thursday, March 4, three parked cars at Fordton were struck by a large haulage lorry travelling towards Tedburn St Mary.

Local resident Anne Logan told the "Courier": "Two cars had their wing mirrors ripped off and damage to the sides of cars was sustained.

"Fortunately in this case the culprit was eventually apprehended. One of our neighbours also captured cctv footage of the morning’s incident."

She continued: "This is a frequent occurrence along this road and residents are getting really fed up with the regularity of these incidents.

"I can name at least eight residents here who have suffered damage to their parked vehicles by passing traffic relatively recently. We have had our car damaged three times now.

"As people are no doubt aware Fordton suffers greatly from traffic. A huge number of very large lorries and enormous tractors and other farm vehicles travel along this minor road.

"It is time we had a 20mph speed limit and a speed camera. There is room for these vehicles to pass if careful driving is observed at all times.

"We often see young tractor drivers and other road users driving past using their mobile phones. No wonder there are accidents!"
