“A TOWN full of music” and “really appreciated” were comments from a shopper on Saturday morning (August 22) in Crediton, when 15 groups of musicians played in different spots along the High Street.

Only a short spell of rain came along for this annual Busk It, which was in a different form this year.

Usually musicians play in shops, this year they could not.

Musician and actor, but sound engineer on the town square this time, Philip Robinson, commented: “You could see people saying ‘Let’s have a listen’ rather than talking when they were sitting at the benches on the square.”

Organiser on behalf of the Arts Centre and the Town Team, Jack Robson, said one problem was having to contend with the noise of traffic but on the other hand, he noticed that people going past in cars were slowing and winding down their windows.

“Although buckets were beside most of the players, that was not the major part of the morning because we have had money from Crediton Town Council. The council realises it is a very positive thing to have going on and likes the impact it has on the town,” he added.

A number of the musicians have played in Busk It each year since it began in 2012.
