WHEN is Devon County Council or Mid Devon District Council going to do something about the buses that are polluting the High Street?

Buses stop at St Lawrence Green and on the High Street by The Old Town Hall, at designated bus stops, and cause so much congestion that traffic queues right up the High Street and through the traffic lights at the Green.

Years ago the buses parked by Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE) where they loaded and unloaded. Why can’t they do that again? They could also make up time there.

They could then go straight to Chiddenbrook or down the High Street avoiding stopping at the Green. Then we could do away with both stops at the Green and just use the pull-in by QE as a drop-off/pick-up instead.

Sometimes the bus stops at St Lawrence Green for up to 15 minutes with the engine running causing pollution and forcing cars to either queue or to overtake.

The buses from Chulmleigh could pick/drop off passengers in Western Road where it’s wider.

Barnstaple and Chulmleigh buses could load/unload passengers at Queen Elizabeth’s School’s College House at the pull-in. They could also stop there to make up time.
