CONCERNED particularly about children on rainy days catching the school bus from Yeoford and staying wet while at school set Crediton Hamlets Parish Councillor Nick Yarnold thinking about somewhere for them to shelter on wet days.
After much investigation for a site and style, checking costs and seeking funding, the result is a simple see-through shelter with a perching bench seat and no lighting.
Cllr Yarnold said that the cost was estimated at £4,000, so long as volunteers could do the ground work and installation.
He added: “This would not be possible without the part funding by Yeoford Fun Day and Crediton Hamlets Parish Council.
“I appreciate that this particular bus shelter may not be to everybody’s liking, but it’s to do with monies available, unless there is other funding available within the community.
“But more importantly it’s about having shelter for the community. The bus shelter will be sited opposite Yeoford Meadows, thanks to a kind gesture from a local farmer.
“If any of the Yeoford Village community have any questions or views, please do not hesitate to contact me on: [email protected] .”
