STUDENTS from Queen Elizabeth’s School, Crediton, ISCA Academy and Bramdean School attended Exeter and District Duke of Edinburgh Award annual presentation of awards ceremony at QE on Thursday, October 22.

Students were presented with their Bronze and Silver awards.

The evening was opened by QE principal, Rupert Poole, who welcomed the students and their parents.

Julie Clawson, the co-ordinator of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at QE explained to the people gathered in the hall that the students collecting their awards had, between them, completed approximately 2,000 hours of voluntary work in their local communities, spent approximately 2,000 hours involved in sport, the same amount of time pursuing a skill and all undertaken at least two expeditions, where they had to be self-sufficient for two days.

Jack Yeandle, captain of the Exeter Chiefs and ex-QE student, was welcomed to the stage and gave a speech about how he has to show resilience and determination to be a top level rugby player.

The students were then presented with their awards by Jack Yeandle.

The evening was regarded as a great way to celebrate the dedication and resilience demonstrated by the students to achieve their awards.

Special thanks were extended to Sue Vanden and the QE Food Technology students who made and served guests with some delicious canapés at the ceremony.

Special thanks also went to Jack Yeandle and the Exeter Chiefs for supporting the evening.
