ON Monday and Tuesday, July 4 and 5, the Britain in Bloom judges will visit Crediton to assess the 14 community groups who entered the It’s Your Neighbourhood Award ("IYN") Programme and to assess the town on its Pennant Award entry.
For the Pennant Award, the judges will begin at the Holy Cross Church then walk to the junction of East Street and Charlotte Street.
They will then walk through Newcombe’s Meadow park, then along Belle Parade to the Town Square and up the High Street to St Saviour’s Way.
They will then be driven to Landscore Primary School for a tour of the grounds.
The judges will be giving marks to the town for cleanliness, flowering displays, and community participation.
To ensure the town is looking "blooming lovely" and ready for the judges arrival a campaign is being launched entitled: "Many hands make light work”, to tidy up the town for the visit.
Project co-ordinator, Mike Szabo, a Crediton Town Councillor, is asking volunteers to step forward to get in touch by contacting him on 01363 775255 or email: [email protected] .
He said: “It would be fantastic if residents along the route would take this opportunity to show their properties looking their best!
“On the High Street shop owners who can put out flowering containers would really contribute to brightening up the town!”
The IYN groups and the Town will receive Certificates and recognition on Thursday, October 6, at Somerset County Cricket Showground, Taunton.
