THE gracious service given by the Queen to her country and Commonwealth, her stability, her unwavering faith, wise counsel, commitment to the common good and integrity was praised by the Bishop of Crediton during her address at the Mid Devon District Council Civic Commemoration Service held at Crediton Parish Church on Sunday, September 18.
The Bishop, the Rt Rev Jackie Searle, said that the Queen had been a servant to her people, just as Jesus had served, and led by example.
She said she hoped people would keep her legacy alive, expressing deepest and heartfelt thanks for her life.
Officiant was the Rector, the Rev Matthew Tregenza and also taking part was the Crediton Parish Church Choir led by Director of Music Jon Rawles and organist Rev Canon Peter Gilks.
The chairman of Mid Devon District Council, Cllr Ray Radford and the Leader of the Council, Cllr Bob Deed attended the service.
Readings were by Mr James French CBE DL and the Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Liz Brookes-Hocking.
The service included the Commendation and concluded with the National Anthem.
