AS many as 158 runners took on the Crediton Crunch 10-kilometre race on Sunday, September 7.
Organised by Crediton Running Network, the multi-terrain run began and finished this year at Queen Elizabeth’s School’s Barnfield campus.

The race started at 10.30am and included a lap of the school fields before runners headed out onto the 90 per cent offroad route.

The winner was Luke Stannus, who finished the 10 kilometres in 38 minutes and 57 seconds.

The first female across the finish line was Hazel Shears, with a time of 49 minutes and three seconds.

Many participants wore fancy dress in memory of Crediton Running Network member Hannah Bennett.

Trophies were presented to the first, second and third males and females home. There were also trophies for the fastest runners by age category and the best fancy dress outfit.

All those who took part received a medal and a goody bag from event sponsor Ernest Jackson of Crediton, and a free bottle of beer courtesy of Hanlons Brewery.

The 1st Crediton Scouts refreshments for the competitors at the end of the run.

Hospiscare and Go Beyond were the race charities this year.
The first 10 male runners home were: 1st Luke Stannus, 38:57; 2nd Sam Bailey, 40:41; 3rd Ethan Pavey, 40:55; 4th Howard Williams, 41:55; 5th Simon Chant, 42:18; 6th Ian Gooding, 42:25; 7th Julian Morrish, 42:39; 8th Theo Burgess, 42:49; 9th Tony Pallett, 42:54; 10th David Friskin, 43:13.
The first 10 women to cross the line were: 1st Hazel Shears, 49:03; 2nd Ali Kerridge, 49:46; 3rd Karen Eyre, 50:08; 4th Claire Skinner, 51:02; 5th Natalie Rees, 51:13; 6th Tanya Marrow, 51:24; 7th Julia Malik, 52:22; 8th Julie Gosney, 52:25; 9th Debbie Jones, 52:27; 10th Louise Williams, 53:10.
