FOR a birthday treat, a young man who has aspirations of being a policeman, was given a special tour of Crediton Police Station.
On the day before his sixth birthday, Bertie Webb, was dressed in a policeman's uniform, albeit a small one, had his fingerprints taken, checked out a police car, interview rooms and just about everything in the station.
Bertie, from Yeoford, was given the guided tour by PC Keith Bradshaw, after his mother, Shelly, wrote to Devon and Cornwall Constabulary asking for the birthday treat.
Shelly told the Courier: "Bertie has wanted to be a policeman since he was four and I think it was the first full sentence he said.
"I asked the police if they would allow a visit as he may be unable to fulfill his dream.
"Bertie has dyspraxia, is registered disabled and basically has weak muscles.
"He had an amazing time with the police and has spoken of nothing else since.
"I would really like to thank Devon and Cornwall Constabulary for allowing us to visit and to PC Bradshaw who showed us around."
PC Bradshaw gave Bertie a box of pencils to take back to his school so that each pupil at Yeoford Primary School could have one.
