ON Saturday, October 30, beginning at 11.30am after the dedication of the Remembrance Garden in the Crediton Parish Church churchyard, the first of this winter period’s two peal attempts will take place on the bells of Holy Cross Church.

The peal will be a method known as Bristol Surprise Maximus rung by a band drawn largely from the Bristol Society and, if successful, will last for approximately 3.5 hours.

The peal Bristol Maximus is recognised as one of the more difficult methods to ring and it was also a favourite of Crediton Parish Church’s past Tower Captain Howard Egglestone.

It will be an opportunity to hear Crediton’s 12 bells rung to a very high standard.
