THE beautiful garden at “Fairway” in Chulmleigh (EX18 7BL) is open this Sunday, May 26, on Sunday, June 2 and again on July 7, 14 and 21, all from 12 noon to 5pm, as part of the National Garden Scheme.

Fairway is a south-facing, sloping, wildlife garden of just under an acre.

The garden was started by the present owners 12 years ago and comprises of a maze of paths through meadow areas and young woodland borders.

There is a medium-sized wildlife pond and in the centre of the garden the main lawn is bordered by a perennial and mixed herbaceous flower bed.

The garden has more than 200 interesting trees and shrubs. All the trees, shrubs and perennials are labelled numerically and a catalogue is available with all the plant names.

There is parking on the road and in several small parking areas nearby and a drop off point is available at the garden.

Refreshments are available locally at the golf club, bistro and local pubs, all of which are a short walk away. Admission is £3.50  and children are free.

The garden is open for the National Garden Scheme and the money goes to Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Hospices UK, Carers Trust and other nursing and caring charities which are supported by the NGS.
