ON BEHALF of Resolution Interiors, Dave Stickland handed over a cheque to Ed Marshall and Stuart Dodgeon, captain and vice captain respectively of the Crediton Rugby Club Under 16's team.
The team of 21 boys is due to tour Zimbabwe in July this year after their GCSE's, playing three games against local school opposition before they spend five nights at Victoria Falls, the acknowledged adrenalin capital of the world!
It was Stuart's father and one of the coaches of the team, who had the idea of writing to Andy Flower, the England manager of the highly successful Ashes winning team.
He asked if he would donate a signed shirt to be auctioned for the tour. He did not send a shirt, but a cricket bat instead.
In an unbelievable series of events, Dave Stickland found that his managing director was interested in the bat and agreed to donate £800 to the tour fund in return for the bat!
The support from local businesses to the Crediton RFC Under 16's appeal, including Resolution Interiors, Frobishers Juices, Jack in the Green, RGB, Supacat and Stewart Price, to date, has been overwhelming!
Exeter Chiefs rugby club have also been incredibly supportive of the team's efforts and have donated a number of cup match tickets for the club to sell.
"It is all adding up to a successful fundraising campaign," said David Dodgeon "and with just five more months to go, we still have another £9,000 to raise.
"If anyone would like to support the tour, they can get details of how to help by logging on to the tour web site – http://www.creditonwasps.co.uk">www.creditonwasps.co.uk ."
