NEWCOMBES Meadow came alive with music, performance and hands-on creativity when Crediton Heart Project and Crediton Arts Centre hosted a return of the Arts in the Park festival on Saturday, August 9.

The event, supported by the National Lottery Community Fund, Crediton Town Council, Devon County Council and Arts Council England, saw more than 1,000 people attend throughout the day.
From 10am to 4pm, visitors enjoyed a bustling Craft Fair, delicious local food stalls and free activities for all ages.

The Kick Start Art Big Doodle graffiti scroll invited everyone to leave their creative mark, while the print-making and hat decorating workshops proved popular with budding artists.
Drum Devon workshops filled the meadow with infectious rhythms, and Higher Beings Circus skills sessions brought laughter and fun as attendees tried their hand at activities such as juggling and plate spinning.
Attendees were also treated to Scratchworks Theatre’s roaming field performance and an enchanting staging of Grimm.

Crediton Heart Project volunteers also took the opportunity to speak with members of the public about their plans for The Park House - a new community venue on the edge of the park. For more information and to take part in their consultation survey, visit: www.creditonheartproject.org .
“This event is all about bringing local people together through creativity and the energy in the park was just incredible,” said a Trustee from the Crediton Heart Project. “We’re so grateful to our funders, volunteers and the amazing community who made this year's Art in the Park another success.”

The festival marked the finale of a week-long Summer Arts Festival delivered by the Crediton Heart Project in partnership with the Turning Tides Project and Crediton Arts Centre.
Throughout the week, the community enjoyed a programme of creative workshops, a free open-air screening of “Wicked”, and musical performances that brought people together across the town.
