MORRISONS of Mill Street, Crediton, has donated a British apple tree for the children at Pippins Pre-School and the Kidz Star Club, the before and after school club Pippins runs at Landscore Primary School, to plant and grow their own apples.
The three-year-old British apple tree sapling was delivered to pupils at the school by Morrisons Crediton Community Champion Hazel Evely and the store’s personnel manager, Sandra Williams.
Hazel and Sandra also delivered two crates of apples so the children have a chance to taste the fruit which the tree will eventually produce.
Hazel said: “We hope the children enjoy watching the British apple tree grow and also enjoy the delicious apples we have brought along for them today.”
Hazel Hodge, manager, Pippins Pre-School, said: “We would like to say a very big ‘thank you’ to Morrisons for this kind donation of a tree, apples and even the compost to plant the tree.
“Apples are really a big favourite with the children who come to Pippins and the Kidz Star Club.”
Morrisons sell 500 million apples every year. It stocks more than 26 varieties of British apples during the British season.
