TODAY, Friday, July 27, the “Crediton Courier” attains its 1200th issue.
The “Courier” has come a long way since the first issue in November 1974 when it began as a monthly publication, then proceeding to a fortnightly publication and five years ago to become a weekly title.
In addition, the “Courier” is now digital lead, meaning news stories appear on-line on the “Courier” website: www.creditoncourier.co.uk , on occasion within minutes or hours, and these are then shared on social media sites including “Facebook” and “Twitter”.
Of course, the newspaper is available each Friday from stockists in the town and throughout a wide area and this is set to continue.
Additionally, about 50 people receive the “Courier” on memory stick, the Crediton Talking Newspaper, recorded especially for those with little or no sight by volunteers organised by the “Courier” and the Lions Club of Crediton and supporters.
We value you, our readers, contributors and advertisers and we thank you all for your support in helping us provide a newspaper for Crediton and the area.
It is this support which ensures we are able to continue publishing.
A number of towns and areas have lost their local newspaper due to the economic climate and because of other reasons in recent years but the “Courier” is a success due to your support.
Thank you again to those have helped us in any way over the years.
