THERE was remarkable support for FORCE Cancer Charity from Crediton and neighbouring communities in 2018.

The Crediton Friends of FORCE group raised £7,000 for the charity, which offers face-to-face support for anyone locally affected by cancer.

The money came from a wide range of fundraising activities including a dance night, coffee mornings, a concert, soup lunch, a Call My Bluff evening and street and supermarket collections at the town’s Tesco and Morrisons stores.

There were also donations from the Rotary Club of Crediton and Copplestone Church café and a number in memory of loved ones.

“We are very grateful to everyone who helped to make this possible,” said Sheila Ralph from the Crediton FoF group, which also plays an important role in raising awareness of the charity’s work.

The next event on the Crediton FoF calendar is a Quiz and Hot Supper Evening, hosted by the Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface on Friday March 22 (7pm) at the Boniface Centre.

Tickets cost £10 and are available from Sheila on 01363 775424 or Nick on 07833 091500.

“This year we would also really like to hear from people in the Crediton area who would be willing to open their garden for us. Gardens can be of any size and FORCE will take care of the publicity and offer any help needed,” said Sheila.

If you could put on a fundraising event for FORCE, however large or small, please contact Sheila on 01363 775424.

“Our wonderful Friends of FORCE groups make a huge contribution to the work of the charity and we are indebted to them for their support and enthusiasm throughout the year in helping to raise funds and spread the word about FORCE,” said Mervyn Hayes, Friends of FORCE coordinator for the charity.
