TWENTY-FOUR big boxes and at least eight big bags full of clothes, shoes, bedding, toiletries and other items were loaded into a van in Crediton at the start of their journey to help refugees in the Middle East and Europe.

The collection at Crediton Congregational Church during the morning of Saturday. September 8, had been organised by Welcoming Refugees in Crediton.

Crediton Community Bookshop was a drop-off point during the week for people not able to get to the church that morning.

Each box was labelled with its contents, including a box of Wellington boots and even a ski mask had been donated as well as hats, gloves, scarves and more.

The volunteer driver taking the boxes up to the Taunton depot was Marcus Tribe in his Fiat Scudo.

The national and international removals, shipping and storage company Wotton of Tiverton was thanked for its donation of strong boxes.
