CHERITON Fitzpaine Garden Club’s Annual Show, held on August 15, was a great success and saw many entries.
Results were: Silver Cup for most points in show, Nick Hockey; Bond Bowl for runner-up, Andrew Dean; Silver Cup for most points in vegetable section, Nick Hockey; Cup for best exhibit in vegetable section, Julia Metcalfe (carrot); Porter Cup for best collection of garden produce, Nick Hockey; Rose Bow for most points in floral section, Nick Hockey; Cup for best exhibit in floral section, Nick Hockey; Doristan award for best pot plant, Ann Nixon; Reg Pike trophy for most points in floral art section, Andy Dean; Old Beams Moon Vase for most outstanding exhibit in floral art, Mary Nunn; First Timer’s Cup for most points in show, Yvonne Clayton; Gardeners Challenge Cup for best pot plant in class 51, Paula Mossman; Carr Shield for potatoes grown by children, Archie Tonkin (almost 11lbs).
Tubs and Window boxes, Margaret and Tony Martin; Hanging baskets, Chris and Phil Dean.
A Flower arranging workshop for under 16 year olds had been held in the Thursday before the show and results were: eight-11 years, Libby Steele; 12-16 years, Charlotte French.
In the People’s Choice section results were: Children - Charlotte French and Edie O’Brien; Floral Art, Hannah Frost and Tub or Pot, Ann Nixon.
The prizes were presented by Paula Mossman, chairman of the Garden Club.
