FORMER Crediton Methodist Church Minister Rev Ann Varker organised a sponsored cycle/walk/run this summer in aid of the Youth Worker Fund at Crediton Methodist Church.
Ann had been training for some time and was looking forwards to taking part.
Unfortunately she tripped and sprained her ankle the day before the event and could not take part but promised she would complete a 15k route once recovered.
In August Ann left Crediton to take up a new position in the North East.
The following message has been received from Ann: "Over the past few weeks the Derwent Valley has proved to be a good place to gradually build up my strength in readiness for undertaking the challenge on the morning the clocks went back and having the extra hour made it possible for me to keep my promise to undertake the run.’’
The cycle/run/walk raised in excess of £900 and a further £900-plus was given as a leaving present to Ann and, at her request, put towards the Youth Worker Fund.
I am delighted to say that the new Youth Worker, Richard Martin, has this week started with Crediton Methodist Church and we are confident that he will fit in well and be of benefit to the whole town.
