NOT all Seville oranges have a lumpy skin but so far three boxes of lumpy skinned such fruits have arrived at Four Seasons,  Crediton and among them was a curious shaped one.

It looks as if a green caterpillar is almost at the top, a bit like a little handle or as if it could be a sauce pot, similar to those big squashy tomato sauce bottles that used to be in some cafes.

Jim at Four Seasons greengrocers and florist on Crediton High Street has sold 735kg of the orange delights so far, just think of the amount of marmalade now in cupboards around here.

Sevilles have a short season, just January, but they will freeze and apparently are brilliant for any recipe calling for an orange, or even a lemon because they are so bitter.
