AN interesting talk given by Paul Cleave entitled "Afternoon Tea - An English Tradition" was well attended.

The event which was held at Crediton Library on June 17 gave the opportunity for the audience to find out about the traditions of afternoon tea.

Paul used visual artefacts to explain the story of tea in England and the traditions of afternoon tea.

He also talked about tea in China, the introduction of tea to the British by Catherine of Braganza, the cost of tea, the Duchess of Bedford, Devonshire tea and tourists, and afternoon tea in literature.

To finish the afternoon’s event the audience enjoyed a cream tea.
