AN Open Meeting to discuss the possibility of a night-time landing site for a Devon Air Ambulance will be held at Cheriton Fitzpaine Football Club on Wednesday, September 6.
Mike Beresford told the "Courier": "The Committee of the Football Club have seen that Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is looking for sites where the helicopter could land and pick up at night.
"With a big open area, good access and with power and telephone connections we consider that the football ground could be the site serving Cheriton Fitzpaine and the surrounding area.
"We have had some contact with DAAT so they know that the club is interested in being in the night landing programme.
"To get things rolling the committee decided that the money raised by this year’s Summer Ball would be designated for the Night Landing Fund; £829.51 is now in the Fund.
"Should the club not be chosen as the local landing site the Fund will be given towards the chosen site, or otherwise directly to DAAT for its use."
All are invited to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8pm.
