A DEFIBRILLATOR for use if anyone has a Cardiac Arrest is available for public use from the wall of the former Council Offices in Market Street, Crediton, and there are others in a number of shops including both Crediton Tesco stores, at the Boniface Centre, schools and other locations around the town and area.

Crediton Town Council is now offering a chance to have free training in how to use a defibrillator.

The defibrillator on the former Council Offices in Crediton was provided by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and funded by Crediton Town Council, Crediton Tesco and Devon County Council Locality Fund allocation from the County Councillor for Crediton, Cllr Nick Way.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust will run the Defibrillator training session in how to use such a machine should the need arise.

The training will take place on Wednesday, January 23, from 6pm, in the Boniface Centre, Church Lane, Crediton.

The training will include how to use the machine, how to recognise a cardiac arrest, how to carry out CPR and how to manage an unresponsive casualty.

The postcode for the Town Square defibrillator machine is EX17 2BN and the Call Sign if asked when dialing 999 is DC0327.

To release the defibrillator from its heated casing, push the red button.

The machine gives instructions of how to use it when it is in use.
