OUR President, Valerie Pennington, welcomed members to our May Meeting which was held at Colebrooke Parish Hall.
Our speakers for the evening were Paul and Irene Butt who gave us a talk on their three holidays to Africa.
They arranged the holidays themselves and hired specially modified 4x4 vehicles to travel around in.
Their first holiday in 2016, which they went on with two friends, started from Johannesburg and from there they travelled to the Okavango Delta in Northern Botswana and to the central Kalahari Game Reserve.
Their second holiday in 2018 took them from Johannesburg to Windhoek in Namibia.
For their third holiday in 2024 they travelled from Johannesburg to the Victoria Falls and then back via Botswana and Zimbabwe.
The majority of the roads they travelled on were sand, gravel and rocks with only a few major roads being tarmacked. Their talk was illustrated with some lovely photos of the animals and scenery they had seen en route.
For our June meeting we will have a talk by Crediton Dairy. All ladies are welcome. For our meeting on June 9 we will be visiting the Arla Cheese Factory at North Tawton. For further information please contact Andrea Armstrong on 01363 84198.
