ACTIVE Devon, the County Sports Partnership (CSP) for Devon is celebrating after being named by Clubmark and Runningsports as one of their top performing partnerships out of 49 others across the country.
Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for sports clubs, ensuring that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
Runningsports (created and funded by Sport England) supports sports volunteers who are involved in running a team or sports club, ensuring sports clubs not only survive, but also grow and thrive.
More than 10,000 clubs covering 35 different sports are currently Clubmark accredited or 'working towards' the award. During 2009 a total of 35 clubs in Devon achieved Clubmark, contributing to a total of 172 clubs in the county achieving accreditation since the scheme began in 2003.
Active Devon is currently working intensively with 15 local clubs as part of a new Clubmark Support scheme launched in October 2009.
