MOTORISTS are reminded that the A377 is still closed in both directions due to emergency road repairs and resurfacing required between Bugford Cross turning to Morchard Bishop and Kelland Hill, Lapford, due to a tractor and trailer fire which occurred just after 1pm yesterday, Saturday, June 20.

Two fire engines, from Witheridge and Danes Castle, Exeter and a water carrier attended.

A telehandler was 100 per cent destroyed by fire, as well as approximately five metres of adjacent hedgerow.

The trailer that was attached to the telehandler, as well as a nearby phone line also suffered heat damage.

BT Open Reach were made aware of the damage and the incident was left in the care of the police.

The road has remained closed since the fire.

Traffic is advised to seek an alternative route.
