THE Crediton ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund) Fundraising Group kicked off 2017 with its annual Meat Bingo event in January.

This received fantastic support with a massive turnout of Bingo players, helping the group raise £544.20.

This was followed by a very well supported Quiz Night on Saturday, February 18, with 26 teams (more than 150 people taking part) competing for the top spot which was won by the team “Witty, Pithy and Short”.

A great evening was had by all the quizzers and team of helpers.

A big “thank you” went to Suzanne and John Lunn for setting the questions.

The Crediton Group, which was formed three years ago, has raised more than £40,000 from a range of events including local events, skydives and even further afield, doing the Mongol Rally.

The Group would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported them over the last three years and this support has contributed to fundraising for the Chevithorne Appeal, where ELF has built a Family Suite at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The Suite will enable patients to stay in relative comfort and privacy with their families when they need to be together. 

Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) was established in 1987 and aims to lighten the load of families affected by blood cancers and blood disorders.

It provides transport, accommodation and guidance services to families whose lives have been turned upside down following a diagnosis.

ELF also funds roles within the Haematology Ward and research into treatment.

A Skittles Evening on Saturday, March 18, beginning at 7pm at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum. Teams of four - pre-booking required.  Tickets £8 to include pasty or jacket potato supper - Please call Nick on 07971 694606 to book and order your choice of supper.

An Antiques Valuation Evening on Wednesday, April 26, at 7.15pm at the Boniface Centre, Crediton.

Copplestone Community Choir Concert “MAY We Entertain You” on Saturday, May 20, 7pm for 7.15pm at Crediton Congregational Church, with a variety of popular songs. £5 to include light refreshments. Tickets from Jan Martin on 07980 347231, Suzanne Lunn on 07814 372828 or on the door.
