THERE was a good attendance of people at the Armistice Day ceremony held at the Copplestone War Memorial on Friday, November 11.

Rev Martin Greig led the service.

A reading was given by Rev Robert Gordon and the names of the fallen were read by Councillor Stuart Penny, given in the date order of the men’s deaths.

Their home address was given to provide people with a genuine connection to the men who went to war but never returned.

The bugler was Mr Nick Pentreath of Bow, who played “The Last Post” and later the “National Anthem”.

Cllr Chris Sampson lowered the Royal British Legion banner.

Copplestone County Primary School Year Six pupils were in attendance led by Head Teacher Mrs Alison Mackey.

Three students took part in the service, Lani, Owain and Anna.

Cllr Penny said he was delighted that Copplestone School attends this service and that students actively participate.

Wreaths were laid on behalf of Copplestone Parish Council by its Chairman, Cllr Stephen Faulkner, by Heather Castle on behalf of Copplestone Methodist Church and by Copplestone Primary School.

A grateful thanks was extended to all who attended.
