The evocative story from Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol, is as synonymous with the season as tinsel, holly, decorated trees and woolly jumpers.
The production at The Northcott Theatre, Exeter brings to life the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge with technical brilliance.
The set atmosphere summons a bleak, cold midwinter that sets the play off superbly. The actors make good use of the sound, lighting and production that delivers a performance which has you engrossed and immersed in the world of Scrooge and his tortured journey to enlightenment.
Creative Cow’s Amanda Knott’s direction is superb, bringing the tale down to a manageable two hours, making the show easier for all generations.
Derek Frood’s performance as Scrooge is exquisitely executed and well supported by the rest of the brilliant cast.
The musical interludes are a welcome addition to the production that cannot help but make you feel the Christmas spirit rising within you.
The theatre itself is so designed that there cannot have been a bad seat in the house.
If you are struggling to get the Christmas spirit then you should make a booking straight away and I am sure you will leave the theatre with that woolly feeling which makes Christmas so special.
It is easy to book tickets via the theatre’s website at https://exeternorthcott.co.uk, or call the box office on 01392 72 63 63. The last performance is on January 3 2016, so there is not long left to buy tickets. Get them while you can, you won’t be disappointed!
