WITNESSES are sought to a two-vehicle collision on the A30 near Tedburn St Mary in which a young girl was seriously injured.

Emergency services were called at 12.40pm on Thursday, August 20, after the collision involving a Volkswagen Polo and a Ford Ranger on the eastbound carriageway by Fingle Glen junction.

An 11-year-old girl, travelling in the VW Polo, suffered life-changing injuries and was airlifted to Bristol Children's Hospital, where she remains.

The female driver and two children from the same car were taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with minor injuries. The woman remains in hospital.

All of the casualties are from Monmouth in South Wales.

The A30 was closed following the incident and fully reopened in both directions at 8.40pm.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
