THERE is some sad news following a fire involving a dormer bungalow at Woodland Head, between Yeoford and Cheriton Bishop, yesterday.
Devon and Cornwall Police today, Monday, August 3, issued a statement which reads: “Police were called at around 1.40pm on Sunday, August 2, following a report of a fire at a property in Oxclose, Yeoford.
“Emergency services attended the location in a joint response, and sadly a body was located on the balcony.
“At this time formal identification is yet to take place, but the body is believed to be that of a local man in his 50s.
“Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing, however the death is not believed to be suspicious.
“A scene guard remains in place and we'd ask members of the public to refrain from attending the area in order to give the family privacy and allow the emergency services to continue investigation work.”

Fire crews from across the area attended the fire and smoke could be seen from many miles away from the scene.
A Devon Air Ambulance also attended.
The road from Yeoford to Woodland Head and in the other direction, from Cheriton Bishop to Woodland Head, was closed until late last night to enable fire crews to fight the fire.
