DEVON and Somerset fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls to reports of a fire in a commercial building in Kings Mill Road, Cullompton.

The first call was received at 1.49pm on Thursday, August 6.

Three fire appliances from Cullompton and Bampton attended along with supporting officers.

On arrival crews confirmed a fire in a machine and that the sprinklers had activated to contain the fire.

The fire was in a paper mill factory measuring 100m x 75m consisting of three floors with a block and steel frame with metal cladding.

The fire involved a paper production machine on the ground floor.

Fire crews put out the blaze using one hose reel jet, one covering jet and used two thermal imaging cameras to check the fire was out.

All personnel had been evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire service.

The fire service said that approximately 30% damage was caused to the machine by fire and approximately 10% fire damage was caused to the building by the sprinkler system.
