THE Crediton man who was allegedly stabbed in the face and neck with a knife in the early hours of Saturday morning is now recovering from facial reconstruction surgery.

Robert Robbins (35), from Crediton, was severely wounded in an attack at The Burrowe, Crediton, between 12.30am and 1.15am on Saturday morning.

His half brother, James Tuohey (25), told the “Courier” at 2.30pm this afternoon: “Robbie has just come out of an operation for facial reconstruction.

“He is in recovery now.”

James added: “Robbie said he was involved in an argument at the White Swan pub in Crediton but he then carried on talking with the man.

“He said he couldn’t remember anything after his last drink and that is why blood tests are being run to see if his drink was ‘spiked’.

“He couldn’t remember anything that happened until he got to his home in Parliament Street and found blood dripping down onto the floor.”

Mr Robbins was said to have been “ucky to be alive” and was rushed to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital after his father called the emergency services.

Police arrested three men in connection with the incident, who were questioned at the Heavitree Road Police Station in Exeter.

Police confirmed that they are treating the crime as an attempted murder.

Two 18-year-old men, from Crediton, and a 25-year-old man, from the Exeter area, were later released on police bail until January 19, 2016.

Officers are appealing for anyone who has any information about the incident to get in touch.

Police are investigating an attempted murder in Crediton at the weekend after a man suffered life-threatening injuries.

A 35-year-old man, from Crediton, was allegedly attacked in an alleyway at The Burrowe between 00.30am and 1.15am on Saturday, October 10.

He suffered serious neck and facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and were taken into custody at Heavitree Road police station, Exeter.

Two 18-year-old men, from Crediton, and a 25-year-old man, from the Exeter area, were later released on bail until January 19, 2016.
