POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the A361 near Barnstaple.

Officers received reports just before 11.40am on Monday, May 19, of a collision between a VW Golf and a white VW Crafter panel van on the North Devon Link Road near to the Landkey Junction.

As a result of the incident, the driver of the VW Golf, who was aged 78 and from Tiverton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this time.

The van driver, a 51-year-old man from the Exeter area, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was conveyed to hospital by the Ambulance Service.
