DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has launched a consultation exercise on its latest draft five-year strategic plan.

The draft Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) sets out the fire and rescue related risks in the area, and what the Service plans to do about them.

The draft plan outlines how we intend to manage the risks over the next five years (2027-2032) to help keep you, your home, your community and your environment safe from fire and other emergencies.

Cllr Simon Coles, Chairman of the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority, said: "Earlier this year, we heard from almost 1,000 people as to the risks that they felt we ought to consider in the plan. I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed so far.

"In developing this plan, we considered these comments from the public and also analysed risk trends that could affect our services, our communities or our staff in the future.

"This summer showed what affect extreme weather can have on our resources and ability to respond to incidents. We need to continue to review and adapt to emerging risks."

The Service needs to make sure that we understand the risks we face across Devon and Somerset so that we can effectively respond in an emergency and reduce the risk where possible. We want to know what people think about our draft plan, to make sure we’ve covered the risks you see in your local area.

The closing date for responses is 9am on Monday, January 4.
