THE Crediton Food Festival committee has decided that it will not proceed with an event this June.

While the committee continued to operate throughout Covid with the firm intention of resuming this much loved event and it had made bookings for June 11 and 12 this year, it has since decided it cannot go ahead.

The committee said: “The Town Team has plans afoot to celebrate St Boniface Day and the Platinum Jubilee in June and to-this-end, they have also booked the Town Square for a lunch and food stall event for June 5.

“Clearly it is untenable to hold two such similar events within six days of each other and it is with regret that we have decided to postpone the event.

“We look forward to a storming return on June 10 and 11, 2023.

“We hope that Covid does not mire the Town Team events in June 2022 and that we can all look forward to our town Food Festival taking its place amongst all the other Devon food festivals on our usual dates in 2023.”

The committee adds: “We are a small committee of volunteers and would very much welcome further recruits.

“No experience is required, just a passion for food, community socials, the town of Crediton or all of the above.”
