DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service control room received several 999 calls reporting a fire outside a property in Tiverton just after 1am this morning, Friday, August 14.

Three fire engines, from Tiverton and Bampton, were sent and on arrival crews confirmed the front of the property was well alight.

To put out the fire the crews used one hose reel jet, two set of breathing apparatus and a thermal image camera to check it was out.

A smoke clearance fan was also used.

A Fire Service spokesperson said: “The fire started in recycling bins and there was 75 per cent fire damage to the front door, windows and facia of the property and light smoke logging of the ground floor.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
