THE A377 is currently closed to traffic between North Street and Church Street in Union Road, Crediton, due to a serious road traffic accident.

It is believed that a car and motorbike have been involved in a collision.

Many emergency services are currently at the scene including police and ambulance personnel.

The Devon Air Ambulance landed at Crediton Football Club and paramedics were taken to the scene by a police car.

A police diversion is in operation and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

The incident is believed to have happened at about 7pm.

It is expected that the road will be closed for some time to enable accident investigation work to take place.
