AROUND 60 senior citizen members of the Waie Inn Luncheon Club thoroughly enjoyed a festive Christmas lunch and party, courtesy of landlady Jean Burrow.
The delicious turkey meal, with all the trimmings, was served with red or white wine and followed by a variety of puddings, including a traditional Christmas pudding.
After a free draw, with 25 prizes, teas/coffees and hot mince pies were served.
Mrs Burrow thanked helpers Belle and Rick Rickard for their help and Arthur Turner who runs the draw with the two ladies who help him at each luncheon.
This year instead of entertainment there were two games of bingo, which were great fun, with prizes for one, two and three lines, with Jean’s daughter Gill as the caller.
A card and a collection for the staff were given and a Thank You card to Jean, with a garden gift voucher and a beautiful orchid, which she said was her favourite flower, was presented by Arthur Turner.
It was a truly very happy and delightful occasion for the start of the Christmas festivities.
