DOZENS of big boxes and many big bags full of clothes, shoes, bedding, toiletries and other items were loaded into a large van and a small van in Crediton at the start of their journey to help refugees in the Middle East and Europe.

The collection at Crediton Congregational Church during the morning of Saturday, November 23, had been organised by Welcoming Refugees in Crediton. Many people took along items.

Each box was labelled with its contents and for which age group the clothing or items were appropriate.

“Collections for Refugees are always an uplifting event,” said one of the Shobrooke supporters, who added “I come along with a bag of clothes and come out feeling good.”

Rose Removals had provided 30 boxes, which were all packed by volunteers, with clothing for men, women, children and babies, with toiletries, sanitary goods, First Aid, food and bedding.

Jon Bowman took his large van and drove it to Taunton to Refugee Aid from Taunton (RAFT).

Sue Werner took along her family’s van in case it was needed and it was, it was filled and she too had a drive to Taunton and back.

Thanks were extended to all who donated, the drivers, and all who supported the morning.
