A LONG-serving parish councillor has been presented with a gift in recognition of his contribution to life in the village of Lapford.

Edwin Passmore (67) has served as a parish councillor for 43 years.

At the November meeting, the chairman, Peter Lacey, presented Mr Passmore with a sundial.

Mr Lacey said: "Edwin has worked tirelessly and done a tremendous amount of good in the village.

"Even though he has retired as a councillor, he is still available to help."

Mr Passmore has lived in the village since he was 10.

He said: "I enjoyed every minute as a parish councillor.

"I've always tried to help Lapford every way I could - and I will continue to do so."

Also at the presentation evening were County Councillor Michael Lee and Mid Devon District Councillor Clive Eginton.
