WITH the best ever turnout of volunteers, leaves were raked, weeds weeded, plants pruned and 400 bulbs planted in a morning at Peoples Park, Crediton. Crediton Town Council ’s Open Spaces Working Group, schools and pre-schools have been making a difference to the Peoples Park Wildlife Area in recent years.

Some volunteers went along in response to the 100 leaflets hand-delivered to homes close to Peoples Park, others had heard via Sustainable Crediton and "Facebook."

“It’s a tucked away area. And, would you believe it? There are raspberries!” exclaimed one new volunteer.

“It is quite a work-out,” said another. “I have had my exercise for today, and in good company!”

Other unloved areas in the town are coming to the attention of the group.
