THE founder of the 4th Crediton Brownies was invited to perform a special duty recently - she was asked to cut a celebration cake to mark the 40th anniversary of the pack.
Wyn Saunders said that the now closed 3rd Crediton Brownies was so overcrowded that she decided to start a 4th pack, which soon had a waiting list itself!
At the time the pack met in Hayward's Primary School Hall but it now meets regularly at the Guide Hut at Lords Meadow.
To celebrate the anniversary, the pack held a celebration day, where the current brownies made cakes, biscuits with faces, badges, bean bags, puppets and hand puppets and enjoyed delicious refreshments, including a splendid tea.
Current Brown Owl, Caroline Isaac, said: "It was a tremendous day for the brownies and we all enjoyed celebrating it!"
Other former Brown Owls, guiders and assistants were also invited to the celebration party.
