MORE than 165 kilometres were walked, run or cycled on Sunday afternoon, July 19, to raise money for youth work in Crediton.
The event had been organised by Ann Varker, minister at Crediton Methodist Church, to take place before she leaves to go to a new appointment in the north-east of England.
A total of 18 others signed up, committing to cover at least five kilometres each.
In the event one person rode 10K on their bike, just months after recovering from a hip replacement; three people walked and four ran the full 15K route.
Unfortunately, Ann was not able to run herself, having tripped over a step the day before, causing ligament damage.
She is still committed to running 15K for the youth of the town, but this will have to wait for several weeks now to allow the injury to heal. She had run 14.7K just days before in training and was so disappointed to have to sit on the side lines on the day.
So far more than £600 sponsorship has been raised. A huge thank you to all those who have contributed to this total.
If you would like to support those who took part, you can still give on the Methodist Church website: www.creditonmethodist.org.uk .
