TWO rounds at Downes Crediton Golf Club were part of a 16-hour golfing extravaganza for charity for 10 Devon golfers.
It was the longest round of their lives for Exeter's Russell Pankhurst and Darren Vesper with Plymouth golfers Mo Jayarajah, Richard Price, Nick Aveyard, David Parlby, Steve Allum, Martin Price, Scott Ferguson and Mark Luxton.
They were taking part in the 20 Million Yard Golf Marathon, the UKs first nationwide golfing challenge organised by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. They aim to raise £2,500 with the help of the people of Devon.
One team started playing at 4am at Launceston Golf Club, moving to Yelverton, Wrangaton and Tavistock. The second began at Padbrook Park, moved to Tiverton and ended with two rounds at Downes Crediton.
Partnered with Golf Monthly magazine, more than 50 golfers took part in the UK, each taking more than 300 shots around 72 holes, covering 25,000 yards, the 15 golf marathons covering more than 1.5 million yards of golf in the one day, raising £15,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
